  1. So, Norm (or whoever the tag wrangler for this site is), is her name Marisa or Marissa? Because her last two appearances have been tagged with “Marissa”, but before that, she was “Marisa” and that’s how her name was spelled in the comic itself.

    Get it together, dude!

    • [sings] “When trumpets were mellow
And every gal only had one fellow,
      No need to remember when,
‘Cause everything old is new again.

      Dancin’ at church, Long Island jazzy parties;
Waiter, bring us some more Bacardi!
We’ll order now what they ordered then,
‘Cause everything old is new again!”

  2. My first camera was a Kodak 110mm film camera. That was around 1992. At the time I was about 10 years old, and now I’m 35. I’m still very much into photography, though my go-to camera now is in my smartphone.

    • Kodak 126, 1970, when I was nine. I still have developing trays, enlarger, etc., though now my main camera is a Pentax K3 DSLR.

        • Mine was in the 1970s: Polaroid SX-70 instant print camera, with flashbar.

Today? Smartphone ONLY because I can’t yet afford a DLSR.

        • I paid a little over $200 for a new SRT-101 in 1973. So you got a good deal. First camera was a Kodak Brownie, 127 mm film for my 10th birthday in 1962.

          • I majored in Photography, then worked in JC Penney’s Camera Dept (’75-79)!
Still have my SLRs (and my Kodak 126 that was my first) but, mainly use my phone. Occasionally use my PHD (Push Here Dummy, digital) like this week for wildflowers.

  3. “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.”

    • You joke, but vinyl is still very much a thing. I process product for a retail store and always have titles that are on both vinyl and CD in every batch of new releases.

    • In Canada, vinyl is also making a big comeback. Sunrise Records is taking advantage of the shutdown of HMV Canada in order to build its business with vinyl at the front of each of 70 locations they’re taking over from HMV…

  4. It’s only been in the last several years that pro photographers have switched to digital. Some hardcores still prefer film.

  5. If you are around long enough, you become hip and trendy again. Turn around time seems to be pretty quick on most things (20-40 years)

      • Flip phones still exist (or exist again), usually for those who want only the barest of phones. (Think older folks and connected to odd servers.) I always loved my flip phone. Loved my slide phone with the keyboard the best; I mourned the death of it for a couple of months even though I replaced it.

  6. Marissa is the type of person who would look at a floppy disc and say, “Who 3D printed a save button?” ?Her response was cringe-worthy.

  7. I realize it’s a sidebar to the joke, but it should be noted that Marisa delivered good customer service. She sent him to the right place and created goodwill for Grumbel’s. He’ll come back.
