I prefer your art style back in your 2007 comics, they were a lot more expressive and variant. Now all the women have the same cut-and-paste head shape and the characters all have the same cut-and-paste mouth. Bring back the old personalized characteristics! They were awesome
I was just thinking the same thing. Although I enjoy this comic and find it amusing as is, the older ones are much more expressive and, as a result, are more, well, funny. Even just adding a few more expressions would be awesome.
Ranger, Elaine, respectfully, I have to disagree with you. Though Norm’s work was great from the start, his figures tended to be a bit on the stiff side and the faces were drawn more like gap-mouthed puppets , which tended to stifle -or in some cases overdo- the expressions..I think Norm’s curent way of drawing the faces work much better.. much more subtlety..it really helps to give Marla’s face just the right amount of snark on those occasions.
I think the comic of December 10 hit me hardest, where Marla’s expression in all 3 panels was almost exactly the same. And her head has gotten a lot wider with the new style. I think the characters were a bit stiff when it first started back in 2006, but the artwork got progressively better into 2007 onwards. I find that the expressions are what comics are for – otherwise I’d just go and read quotes. I still love the comic, I just miss the old expressions, which were what really drew me in in the first place.
This is what I should say when I talk about my work.
That’s a positive spin alright!
We need more people like Lana on this planet. Focus on the positive!
Here ya go

There is a thin line between sounding positive and just being able to speak sarcasm without sounding sarcastic.
And since she used to do PR and has to be able to put a positive spin on everything(even Grumbl’s), she has a lot of practice with the later.

I like how Val’s hair comes outside of the border on panels 1 & 3, but how come we can see Lana’s eyes thru her lenses but not Val’s?
Glare?
Obviously Val wears reflective lenses.
stronger prescription? Mayhaps Val wears coke bottle lenses?
“I want to get out of here as quickly as possible.”
Nice spin indeed.
I hate to say it, but I actually *like* Lana. Hell of a spin-doctor.
