Curse those sickies!!
Especially on the weekend closing shifts!
But what about us sickies who HAVE to go into work? (I’m sick and my leg is hurting, yet if I tried to call out today I know they’d tell me to come in anyway, and with first of the year cutdowns looming I can’t risk making their decisions easier).
Personally, I won’t go to through a sick cashier’s line. Even if I’ve waited in line, I will leave and go to another register.
Let’s not forget that those “sick” cashiers might just be taking an extra day off and going to the movies.
Its flu season and cashiers have to do deal with the unwashed masses who lick their money, wipe their noses, ask them to toss out their used tissues, and they likely don’t have health insurance/time/money to go see a doctor.
You know, of all the years when one of us got sick or caught the flu, it always seemed to be in either October or January. Maybe we were lucky?
I noticed this comic uses the phrase “called out sick” whereas here in Minnesota we’ve always said “called in sick.” I wonder if that’s a regional thing.. But it’s been over 10 years since I called out/in sick.
I don’t know about anywhere else but in CA we say called in sick.
I’ve also heard called off sick used.
It’s called out sick in Iowa.
Or it could be a mental health day after a weekend+ of whiny, bitchy, obnoxious, clueless, center-of-the-universe shopping public. You know they are out there, just waiting in your line … .
Six carts of returns? That’s all? That’s a normal business day in retail, Norm.
He was probably talking about 6 carts of returns in the first 10 minutes of that day!
Just wait till December 26th……………….
The past few years, we’ve actually had more returns before Christmas than after. Because people start their shopping so early, and then see something better to get the person they’ve already bought for.
Six carts of returns, all that other stuff, and a need for anger management therapy . . . . . .
When I worked the customer service desk, the worst day of returns I can remember was the day before Thanksgiving. I guess people wanted money to go shopping.
Maybe he means 6 carts of returns per department. That sounds more likely.
