  1. This would’ve been a lot more funny if instead of a “playconsole” they used some kind of iPod/iPhone. New versions of those seem to come out every year, consoles not so much.

    • I have to second you on that. As I’m a big RPGamer the only significant reason to get the ‘next’ console is for backwards compatibility (which seems to be starting to go the way of the Dodo, the only ‘current’ console I don’t have is the PSVita, and I’m not sure I’m going to get one as I have 10 PSP games that can’t be played on it and there are another 4 I’d like to get that have the same problem as they also aren’t available on the Playstation Network as a digital version), and with the console generation cycle be in excess of 5 years, and normally there is an overlap period between consoles, that warning would never truly apply.

      • I agree. It kinda sucked that once I bought my vita that my physical copies of games wouldn’t be able to work on my vita. I had a few on PSN, though.

      • Yeah. I mean, I didn’t get rid of my PS2 when I got a PS3 because I wanted to keep playin’ my awesome PS2 games. I won’t ditch my PSP if I ever get a Vita (though I don’t see myself getting one anytime soon, not until the inevitable KH game, anyway, or if Innocence R gets a localization…), I kept my GameCube when I got my Wii because I didn’t wanna also spend money on something to let me play my import game since I already had that for my GC.

        I do understand that they can’t support every previous type of game the system series has been able to play, but it’s still sad when they throw out some of the BC, because some of us like those lesser-known titles that’ll never see a digital re-release for the newer console. ;_;

    • I most definitely concur. Apple victims will do anything to get a slight upgrade. It’s a damn shame what an evil mega-corporation does to corrupt people to give them more money… and it’s even more shameful that people allow themselves to be victimized by it. Apple is really the only company extremely guilty of that, and making fun of them in a strip like this would resonate well with me.

  2. WARNING: If you own X system, you should know that Y system plays all the same games. You don’t really need to buy Y!

    …I tried.

    • Not to mention that, depending on what you play, by the time the deal-sealer game(s) that will make you get the system is/are released, there’ll be a price drop on the horizon if one hasn’t been announced/implemented already.

  3. And this new one will be at least 3 times more expensive. With a limited library of games, most of which will be shovel wear. It wont even have any of the big titles your interested in for 4 to 7 months at least. Oh and will most likely have a faulty or issue filled first release because they are trying to cut down on cost as much as possible. And please remember that your friends will all have the old one for linked gaming fun while the new one will not make it into most homes for another 2 years after release at least.

    • It’s not so bad–by the time the really good games are released, there’ll be the inevitable price-drop on the way anyway. XD

      • I do hobby grade radio control, I’ve for a couple vehicles for a decade plus and they still run (and they’re still available new) and have been modified to be stupidly fast, one of which is kinda terrifying to drive with enough battery in it!

  4. I wish! It’s been 5+ years since the last console release and there’s only just been an announcement for the release of ONE with no release date.

    And trust me, my current consoles are definitely reaching the end of their natural lifespan. So far even the gaming magazines are repeating the same tired rumours.

    Smart Phones do that, though.

  5. Better or not, if it’s good, it’ll still sell.

    I’ve seen PS2s selling like hotcakes even after the PS3 was released. And right now, PSP is selling better than Vita.

  6. Retro Gaming is where it is at. I am currently building my own Arcade cabinet to play all the classics. Though I admit when it is all said and done, I will be spending more money then the cost of a new video game console.
