  1. A: “Corporate likes to waste money chasing imaginary theft while letting actual thieves steal from the company.”

Unfortunately, harassing cashiers for ridiculous amounts of money “off” at close is popular. Regardless of how the time spent with the (sometimes veiled) accusations already cost more in wages than the imaginary theft.

  2. Unfortunately this is so true. In all reality, the cash is probably out because of some stupid Corporate procedure for doing overrides or discounts. Sorry to bash Corporate retail, but if they put as much energy into actually encouraging great behavior in team member, instead of always making them feel like they will be in trouble for whatever they do, it might be reflected in sales. Too much energy put into stupid ideas that just cause stress for retail workers, and annoyance for customers. Corporate could hire a company for the actual bookkeeping and put their energy into “retail”. Can you tell I have worked in retail?

  3. I remember when our drawers were so off that they put me (I was a stock runner) on a drawer one night just to see if something was off… and my drawer was perfect so of course they thought I did something wrong.

I did, I knew how to count change.

  4. Positive one day, negative the next. c’est la vie.

I remember I had a job where the price we charged customers for the go kart rides were $10, but the computer calculated it so with tax it actually worked out at $10.01 onscreen. I hated working go kart shift because my till NEVER balanced. *sigh*

  5. “It’s true, it’s all true! I’ve secretly been stealing exactly seventy-six cents over the past two days! Blugh-hoo-hoo-hoo! How did you rumble me?!”
