  1. He’s overdoing it. She’s getting angry. Cooper’s still totally right. Does Val actually know this? I’m not sure.

We’ll see in the next two strips!

    • Looks like she’s just learning her lesson the hard way and later in life than normal, with any luck, she’ll be a better person for it.

    • I don’t think he’s overdoing it. If he had started out the conversation this way, I would agree, but being nice hasn’t worked so far. She’s refused to face her new reality and needs some blunt, tough love to force her to face facts.

She says she “knows” but she doesn’t seem to really be willing to settle.

    • Probably non existent. I used to live in a low income apartment only one block from the police station and it STILL took them over an hour to come when we called.

      • Yeah! what’s up with that? I called 911 and after a half an hour nobody showed up to a situation where a guy was threatening someone at gunpoint.
Well, the argument was still going on with people shouting in the street, I slipped away and walked to the police station and went in asking “Hey, are you guys OK? are you alright? because we called for help just a few blocks away and it’s been a while so I thought I’d WALK OVER and make sure you guys didn’t need help.”

I got fussed at for being a smartass but a cop did come back with me just in time to take the guy away.

Of course, if they’d have gotten there when we first called for help he could have ended the situation BEFORE the other guy was shot.

        • Budget cuts. Beautiful, arent they? My fathers an officer and my mothers a dispatcher, and both have to work under minimum staffing on their shifts. The government thinks 1 officer to about 50,000 people in my states biggest city is rational.

  2. This is definitely the wisest course. All those people bashing on Val… I think Cooper just needs to give her time alone to come to terms with the unpalatable reality. She’ll get over it eventually. :)

  3. “I found a place. It’s within my budget, it’s nice, brick fireplace, and the price was slashed because it got the nickname ‘The Murder House’”.

  4. Everybody needs to stop ragging on Val. This is probably the first day she’s spent apartment hunting. She has no idea what kind of apartments come in her price range and the whole thing is coming as a bit of a shock to her. There’s absolutely no reason for Cooper to dump her just because she’s not adjusting well to her new financial situation. Now, if she’s still not adjusting well after several weeks or a month or two, that’s a different story. This JUST HAPPENED. Cut her some slack!
