The show opens today (Jan 11) with a reception in the EAC’s Chester F. Sidell Gallery from 5-7. The show is running from Jan 11 – Feb 15, and features original art from all of the artist. There will be pieces from both Retail and Gil at the gallery.

This year, I’ve decided to let the fans of RETAIL on Facebook decide the winner of the Grumbel’s Halloween Costume Contest!

Here’s how it works:

Each RETAIL comic this week will feature a different character in costume.  Every morning, I’ll post custom artwork of that character on the RETAIL Facebook Page.  Simply “like” the post to vote for that costume. (Feel free to vote for more than one costume.)  The character with the most votes by midnight on Saturday (11/3) will be declared the winner!

But that’s not all!

At the end of the week, a random “liker” from each post will be chosen to win the costume artwork AND the original RETAIL comic strip from that day!  Winners will be announced on Monday 11/6.

Now that you know how to vote, head on over to the RETAIL Facebook Page and “like” away!

My good friend Tom Racine who hosts the most excellent Tall Tale Radio podcast is trying to raise enough money to get a new laptop via a pledge drive through Indiegogo.

Tall Tale Radio, a podcast that, since 2008, has interviewed nearly 200 cartoonists, artists, animators, musicians, and writers, needs your help!  I’m trying to raise money to get a new laptop, some recording equipment upgrades, and hopefully defray some travel costs to the Cons I cover.

Fox Foundation to support Parkinson’s research. The auction ends June 10 at 10:00 p.m. The artwork is also collected in a book, Team Cul de Sac: Cartoonists Draw the Line at Parkinson’s (Andrews McMeel Publishing), to be published June 5, 2012. A portion of the proceeds from the book will also be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

This is a great cause, so please consider supporting the MJF Foundation’s effort to aid Parkinson’s research by either bidding on some original art, or purchasing the book collection of the donated artwork.  I had the opportunity to see an advance copy of the book at the NCS Reuben Awards weekend in Las Vegas last weekend, and it’s absolutely gorgeous.  Chris Sparks did an amazing job putting it together.

My humble offering to the auction (a collage of Petey and Alice made from comic page newsprint) is pictured above, but with contributions by artists like Bill Watterson, Sergio Aragones, and Lynn Johnson this is also a rare opportunity to purchase the artwork of some true cartooning legends.
