Through his work the comics industry was revitalized in a time of decade and overall, he managed to achieve so much in his lifetime! He is well known as the creator of Marvel comics and even at the age of 95 he was so cool, that people would wait in lines to meet with him at comic cons. He was a true visionary and a face that is well known from his cameo appearances in most of the Marvel movies. Stan Lee created some of the most iconic heroes of all time, along with a handful of incredible villains too and let’s see some of their stories.

Hulk

The Hulk is a fictional superhero, co-created by Stan Lee, with first appearance in the debut issue of The Incredible Hulk from May 1962. He is both The Hulk – the green-skinned, muscular humanoid with immense physical strength and also Dr. Robert Bruce Banner – the physically weak, introverted and emotionally reserved physicist. He is a tortured soul with two very distinct personality states, that exist as independent dissociative personalities and they do resent each other. This is triggered by an accident that is exposing him to gamma radiation, following the detonation of an experimental bomb and all of that while he is saving the life of Rick Jones. Therefore, Dr. Robert Bruce Banner is transformed into The Hulk, whenever he is under emotional stress, at or against his will. Oftentimes his civilian life turns out to be very difficult, due to the destructive rampages and conflicts made from his Hulk alter ego. He is both a monster and a man and as stated by Stan Lee, the character was inspired by Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Thor

The story of Thor

Marvel’s Thor Odinson is a character based on the mythological hammer-wielding god associated with lightning, thunder, storms, strength, sacred groves and trees. He is a fictional superhero and the Asgardian god of thunder, who possesses superhuman abilities along with the enchanted hammer, that is granting him the ability to fly and to manipulate weather. His story begins with his father, Odin, wanting for his son to be taught humility and therefore enchanting him to forget his memories as the thunder god and making him believe that he is a mortal. Thor is being incarnated on Earth as a partially disabled human medical student, who eventually enters the realm of medicine as a doctor and becomes a witness to an alien scouting gathering, while he is in Norway on vacation. He finds Mjolnir, the enchanted hammer, and after he strikes it against a rock, he is being transformed into the thunder god.

Black Widow

Natasha Romanova, or Black Widow is a complex character, that was first introduced as a Russian spy, the antagonist of Iron Man (the well-known Superhero). Later on, she gave her allegiance to the United States, for reasons involving her love. She became an agent for a fictional espionage, special law enforcement and counter-terrorism agency and became a member of the superhero team the Avengers. Black Widow has a complicated backstory and despite that she may have started out as an enemy, she later on became one of the most iconic female heroes of all time in Marvel Comics.

Magneto

Magneto was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and is associated with the X-Men. The tragic and sympathetic character is actually a really powerful mutant with superhuman abilities, that is able to control magnetic fields. Magneto rejects the possibility of coexisting peacefully with the non-mutant population and his philosophy is opposing Professor X’s ideas and that is causing a riff in their friendship at times. Magneto is a truly deep character, that has been portrayed in various roles, starting from supervillain to antihero to superhero.

Black Panther

Created by two comic book legends, writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Jack Kirby, in the story about the king and protector of Wakanda. It first appeared in Fantastic Four issue 52 in July of 1966. Black Panther is the first superhero of African origin in American comics. With the real name of T’Challa, he is not only a skilled warrior, but also a scientifically minded person. It is not a surprise that Black Panther has become a modern-day icon and the character himself was created as innovative and progressive figure in his own time.

Iron Man

According to Lee, the creation of the character of Tony Stark was a way of challenging himself as a writer by introducing a character that fans might not initially like. Tony is a wealthy business giant, a playboy, who seems too vain, but is actually vulnerable and a quite relatable character. He is also a philanthropist, inventor and ingenious scientist, that has suffered a major chest injury during kidnapping. He manages to escape his captors by creating a mechanized suit of armor to save his life, instead of the weapon of mass destruction he was being forced to make by his abductors. After that, he makes advancements on his suit, adds weapons and more devices to it, which he designs at Stark Industries. Iron Man has also been among the founding members of the superhero team the Avengers.
